Arrival
Return by coach from Phnom Penh via the Poipet border. You meet the group at the DL Travel office in Phnom Penh and travel out together by coach. Your tour leader travels with you, and a local guide meets the group on arrival. Phnom Penh → Poipet → Pattaya out, Bangkok → Poipet → Phnom Penh home.
Confirmation
A departure runs once about 10 travellers are going. It can still run below that, but the price is higher. We tell you where a date stands when you enquire, and nothing is due until the departure and the price are confirmed.

Phnom Penh → Poipet → Pattaya GUIDED

  • Meet at the DL Travel office in Phnom Penh and travel by road to the Poipet border.
  • Poipet is the crossing on the Phnom Penh–Bangkok road, facing Aranyaprathet on the Thai side. This tour is by coach the whole way, out and back.
  • Ask us about your entry permission before you book, and tell us which passport you hold. A Cambodian passport is understood to enter Thailand without a visa for 14 days, but Thailand’s own published list qualifies that with “international airports only” — and this is the one tour of the three that does not arrive at an airport. We will confirm it with the embassy before you commit to anything.
  • Our guide meets the group on arrival, and we continue to Pattaya City.
  • Pattaya is on the Gulf coast, south-east of Bangkok, and is where the next two nights are.
  • Dinner, then to the hotel.

Pattaya GUIDED

  • After breakfast, Khao Chee Jan — the Buddha carved into the cliff face.
  • The figure is 109 metres tall. It was cut into the rock with lasers in 1996 and inlaid with gold, to mark fifty years of King Bhumibol’s reign, and it is visible from a long way off across the flat ground in front of it.
  • You will also see it written Khao Chi Chan, and signposted as Buddha Mountain. It is the same place.
  • Then Nong Nooch Garden for the Thai cultural show and the elephant show.
  • Nong Nooch is a botanical garden of about 600 acres south of Pattaya, bought as a fruit plantation in 1954 and opened to the public in 1980. It holds one of the larger palm and cycad collections anywhere, and both shows run in an arena inside the grounds.
  • Lunch, then the afternoon’s sightseeing.
  • Up to the Pattaya city viewpoint, with time for photographs. It stands on the headland at the southern end of the beach and looks back along the whole curve of the bay.
  • Dinner, then the hotel.

Pattaya → Bangkok GUIDED

  • Breakfast, then a honey farm.
  • On to Siam Park, one of Thailand’s largest water parks. It is a water park and a fairground on one site in eastern Bangkok, with around forty rides on the dry side. The wave pool has held the Guinness record as the world’s largest since 2009.
  • Bring a swimming costume and something to change into — the coach goes on to Bangkok afterwards, not back to the hotel.
  • Lunch, and time to shop.
  • Dinner is served aboard a boat on the Chao Phraya river. The Chao Phraya runs through the middle of Bangkok, and the dinner boats work a stretch of it after dark, with the riverside lit along both banks.
  • Overnight in Bangkok.

  • Breakfast, then a boat trip on the Chao Phraya. The second time on the river, and the first in daylight.
  • Then a leather workshop.
  • Lunch, then free shopping at Big C and Pratunam.
  • Pratunam is a wholesale clothing market of some 2,500 stalls, spread over several buildings and the pavements between them. It is at its busiest early.
  • Big C is a Thai supermarket chain, and is where most of the group ends up buying snacks and dried fruit to take home.
  • Dinner, then the hotel.

Bangkok → Poipet → Phnom Penh GUIDED

  • Check out and collect a packed breakfast.
  • Then the road east to the Poipet border and on to Phnom Penh.
  • The whole day is travel and nothing else is scheduled.
  • Keep your passport on you rather than in the coach hold — you are stamped out of Thailand and back into Cambodia on the way.
  • Pack the night before. The bags go on the coach in the morning and the group does not come back to the hotel.

Restaurants worth trying

Your meals are already included, so none of these are arranged by us and you would pay for them yourself. They are simply places we rate, near where the tour goes. Tick any you are curious about and they appear on the map.

Suggested, not included. Opening hours and prices are theirs, not ours — and a place that is busy at eight will be busy whether or not you booked through us.

    Tour Price

A package is priced for the group, not the seat. The date and the price are confirmed together, once enough people are travelling on the same dates. What the price always covers is below.

    Included
    • 4 nights’ accommodation
    • Three meals a day, unless a day above says otherwise
    • A tour leader travelling with the group throughout
    • A local professional guide at each destination
    • All transport, entrance fees and the activities listed on each day above
    • Return coach travel from Phnom Penh
    Not included
    • international flights
    • travel insurance
    • tips
    • drinks and anything personal
    • a visa where your passport needs one
How a package tour works. Tell us roughly when you want to go → we put you together with others travelling around the same time → once about 10 of you are going we confirm the departure date and the exact price → a deposit holds your seats → your documents arrive by email before you fly. You travel together the whole way, with the tour leader alongside you.

Seasonal pricing. High season costs more everywhere on this list — and for Japan and Korea the cherry blossom and autumn weeks are the dearest of the year. Your quote will show the exact figure for your dates.

Budget separately for: travel insurance · tips · drinks and anything personal · a visa where your passport needs one

Tell us who you are and when you want to go. We’ll reply within a business day with the price and what’s available. A deposit holds it, and comes back in full if we can’t get your dates.

Prices are per person, twin share. One person to a room costs the single supplement shown above. Under 2s normally travel free — tell us in the box below.
