Travel DatesOperator departures · we confirm yours
Return flights from Phnom Penh included. You meet the group at Phnom Penh International Airport and fly out together. Your tour leader travels with you, and a local guide meets the group on arrival. Phnom Penh ✈ Hanoi out, Ha Long → Hanoi ✈ Phnom Penh home.
Confirmation
A departure runs once about 10 travellers are going. It can still run below that, but the price is higher. We tell you where a date stands when you enquire, and nothing is due until the departure and the price are confirmed.
The trip at a glance
Hanoi, Sa Pa & Ha Long
Days 1–5
01
Hanoi
Show route
Phnom Penh ✈ Hanoi GUIDED
Meet at Phnom Penh International Airport and fly to Hanoi.
Our team meets you on arrival and takes the group into the city.
Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital, in the north of the country on the Red River — and the base you come back to twice on this trip.
Dinner at a restaurant.
Overnight at the hotel in Hanoi.
02
Sa Pa
Show route
Hanoi → Sa Pa GUIDED
After breakfast, the road north to Lao Cai. Lao Cai is the border province Sa Pa sits in, up against the Chinese frontier.
Lunch, then the afternoon’s sightseeing.
The Rong May glass walkway — the highest in Asia, suspended 2,200 metres up, and one of the sights Sa Pa is known for.
Afterwards a walk through the town, and Sa Pa by night.
Sa Pa is a hill town at around 1,500 metres, so it is markedly cooler than Hanoi. Take a layer even in summer.
Dinner, then the hotel in Sa Pa.
03
Hanoi
Show route
Sa Pa → Hanoi GUIDED
Breakfast at the hotel in Sa Pa, then out to the mountain.
Fansipan is the highest peak in Vietnam at 3,143 metres, and is known as the Roof of Indochina. The ascent is by cable car.
The summit runs several degrees colder than the town below it and is often in cloud, so take a jacket whatever the weather in Sa Pa is doing.
A buffet lunch.
Then Cat Cat Village, to see how the ethnic minority communities live.
Cat Cat is a Hmong village in the valley below Sa Pa, laid out along a path down to a waterfall.
Dinner, then to the hotel in Hanoi.
04
Ha Long
Show route
Hanoi → Ha Long GUIDED
Breakfast, then a morning of Hanoi’s landmarks.
Ho Chi Minh Square and the mausoleum. There is a dress code at the mausoleum — shoulders and knees covered — and no photography inside.
The One Pillar Pagoda. A small wooden shrine raised on a single stone pillar above a pond.
Trấn Quốc Pagoda, one of Hanoi’s best-known temples. It stands on an islet in West Lake and is the oldest in the city.
Lunch, then the road east to Ha Long Bay.
Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A drowned limestone landscape of near-vertical islands, almost none of them inhabited.
A seafood buffet for dinner, then the hotel in Ha Long.

Ha Long → Hanoi ✈ Phnom Penh GUIDED
Breakfast, then out onto Ha Long Bay by boat.
Lunch aboard the boat, out among the islands.
Afterwards Bai Chay. Bai Chay is the seafront resort quarter of Ha Long, across the bridge from the old town.
Then the transfer to the airport for the flight home to Phnom Penh.
Pack the night before — the bags go on the coach in the morning and the group does not come back to the hotel.
Restaurants worth trying
Your meals are already included, so none of these are arranged by us and you would pay for them yourself. They are simply places we rate, near where the tour goes. Tick any you are curious about and they appear on the map.
Suggested, not included. Opening hours and prices are theirs, not ours — and a place that is busy at eight will be busy whether or not you booked through us.
Tour Price
A package is priced for the group, not the seat. The date and the price are confirmed together, once enough people are travelling on the same dates. What the price always covers is below.
Included
4 nights’ accommodation
Three meals a day, unless a day above says otherwise
A tour leader travelling with the group throughout
A local professional guide at each destination
All transport, entrance fees and the activities listed on each day above
Return flights from Phnom Penh, travelling together as a group
Not included
travel insurance
tips
drinks and anything personal
a visa where your passport needs one
How a package tour works. Tell us roughly when you want to go → we put you together with others travelling around the same time → once about 10 of you are going we confirm the departure date and the exact price → a deposit holds your seats → your documents arrive by email before you fly. You travel together the whole way, with the tour leader alongside you.
Seasonal pricing. High season costs more everywhere on this list — and for Japan and Korea the cherry blossom and autumn weeks are the dearest of the year. Your quote will show the exact figure for your dates.
Budget separately for: travel insurance · tips · drinks and anything personal · a visa where your passport needs one
