Flexi Tour — Departs Any Day

India — The Golden Triangle

Delhi, Agra and Jaipur: a Mughal capital, the most famous building on earth, and a city painted pink for a prince. Two fast trains and one long drive join them, and we book all three so you never have to.
From US$360 per person, twin share — six nights with breakfast and every leg between the three cities: the Gatimaan Express to Agra, a private car on to Jaipur, and the Shatabdi back to Delhi. Budget separately for flights and monument tickets. Compare the three hotel tiers

Arrival
Fly in and out of Delhi (DEL) — this is a loop, so a plain return ticket works and you finish where you started. The Airport Express metro runs into the city in twenty minutes for about US$0.70, which beats a taxi in Delhi traffic most of the day.
Confirmation
Tell us your dates and a tier → we confirm three hotels and all three intercity legs within 24 hours → a deposit holds them → vouchers and train tickets by email before you fly. Departs most days. The Gatimaan does not run on Fridays, so a Friday Agra leg shifts to another fast train. Before we confirm we check your dates against anything the itinerary is built round — museums, markets and monuments keep weekly closing days, and we would rather move a day than spend one at a locked gate.
We include the transport between the cities, and that is deliberate. The Golden Triangle is a circuit, not a pair of cities — Delhi to Agra to Jaipur and back is roughly 720km — and a client holding three hotel bookings with nothing joining them has not bought a tour. So the two trains and the car are ours. Monument tickets are not: they are bought at the gate or online in your own name, and you should not pay us to press a button on your behalf.

Arrive Delhi AT LEISURE

  • Into Indira Gandhi International. Airport transfers are not included — the Airport Express metro is about US$0.70 and twenty minutes to New Delhi station, which is usually faster than a car.
  • Settle in Delhi. Nothing is scheduled today, deliberately.
  • Get small rupee notes early. Cards work in hotels and malls; autos, markets and tips do not.
  • Overnight in Delhi.

Old and New Delhi AT LEISURE

  • Qutub Minar — 73m of carved sandstone begun in 1193, and beside it an iron pillar that has stood 1,600 years without rusting.
  • Humayun's Tomb, which matters more than it looks: it is the first great Mughal garden tomb, and the Taj Mahal is its grandchild. Seeing it before Agra makes the Taj legible.
  • Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi for the late afternoon — a bazaar since the 1600s, and the best street food in the city.
  • Overnight in Delhi.

  • Qutub Minar₹550 · about US$6Foreigner rate. The complex, the tower and the non-rusting iron pillar.

Gatimaan Express & the Taj Mahal TICKETS INCLUDED

  • The Gatimaan Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin, India's fastest train, in chair car with breakfast served at your seat. Your ticket is included. Under two hours.
  • The Taj Mahal. Twenty-two years and twenty thousand workers, for a wife who died in 1631. Go for the last two hours of the afternoon — the light is better, the crowd has thinned, and the middle of the day is hot and flat in photographs. Sunrise is the other good slot and this trip cannot reach it: the train gets you here mid-morning.
  • Agra Fort across the river, where Shah Jahan spent his last eight years imprisoned by his son, looking at what he had built.
  • The Taj is closed on Fridays for prayers. Tell us your dates and we will make sure your Agra day is not one.
  • Overnight in Agra.

Amber Fort & the pink city AT LEISURE

  • Amber Fort, 11km out above a lake. Inside is the Sheesh Mahal, lined with mirrors that turn one candle into a constellation. Go early; it is the busiest thing in Rajasthan by eleven.
  • City Palace, where Jaipur's royal family still live. The two silver urns in the courtyard are the largest silver objects in the world.
  • Hawa Mahal — 953 windows in a five-storey screen, built in 1799 so royal women could watch the street without being seen. Photograph it from the café opposite, not from below.
  • Overnight in Jaipur.

Add to this day — approximate gate prices

  • Amber Fort₹200 · about US$2Foreigner rate, and remarkable value for what it is. The Sheesh Mahal is inside the main ticket.
  • City Palace₹700 · about US$8Foreigner rate for the museum and courtyards. The private royal apartments are a separate, much dearer ticket.
  • Hawa Mahal₹200 · about US$2Foreigner rate. Ten minutes inside is plenty; the building is the façade.

Restaurants worth trying

Breakfast is in the price. Every other meal is yours to choose, so here is where we would eat. We do not arrange any of these and you would pay for them yourself. They are simply places we rate, near where the trip goes. Tick any you like and they appear on the map.

Suggested, not included. Opening hours and prices are theirs, not ours — and a place that is busy at eight will be busy whether or not you booked through us.

    Hotels & price

Three nights in Delhi, one in Agra and two in Jaipur. Every property below was checked by name rather than by star filter and carries hundreds or thousands of recent reviews. The luxury tier is doing something the other two are not: in Agra and Jaipur it buys you a hotel that is itself a reason to go — a Taj view from the bed, and a maharaja's own palace.

You will know exactly where you are staying before you pay a balance. We name the property in your confirmation, in writing, as soon as the room is held — and if it is ever unavailable for your dates we substitute at the same tier or better, never below it.

All prices are per person, twin share, in US dollars — the figure on each tab is what you pay us. Monument tickets are not included and are listed at the current foreigner rate on each day above, so you can see exactly what the trip costs in total. These are website estimates, confirmed against live availability for your dates.

Seasonal pricing. These are low-season rates and that is why they look low. September still catches the tail of the monsoon and Delhi is warm. October to March is the season — clear, cool, and materially more expensive, with Christmas, New Year and Holi the peaks. April to June is genuinely punishing, over 45°C in Delhi and Agra, and we would rather talk you out of it than sell it to you.
    Included
6 nights with breakfast — three in Delhi, one in Agra, two in Jaipur · every leg between the three cities: the Gatimaan Express to Agra in chair car, a private air-conditioned car on to Jaipur with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, and the Shatabdi back to Delhi · station transfers at both ends of each train
    Not included
International flights · monument tickets, which in India are charged at a foreigner rate and add up — the Taj alone is about US$15, and roughly US$55 per person across the whole trip · airport transfers in Delhi · local sightseeing transport within each city · guides, which you can hire at each monument gate or we will arrange · the Indian e-visa · lunches and dinners · tipping · travel insurance
